It's your aspect ratio... I have the same problem.
My native screen resolution is 1366x768. If I choose nearly any other resolution, the screenshots come out fine.
I use demodrop to record all of my gameplay, and then if I want to take a screenshot of anything, I play it back in windowed mode so that the aspect ratio is 4:3, and the resulting images are perfect for posting on forums because they don't mess with the forums margins and the chat hud is legible.
