Custom Computer Building Help
I'm planning on building a computer from the ground up, piece by piece. First thing i'm getting is a new case. I was wondering what cases would be good to transfer the shit from this pc to. This is my PC: http://www.pcmag.com/slideshow_viewer/0 ... o=2,00.asp, running windows XP professional SP2. It's actually a bad ass PC, it's just old and clanky. 2002... i was thinking about buying this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Storm-Scout-ATX ... 3cd5250217

Re: Custom Computer Building Help
I'm going to start with a case, then a processor, then once the parts start getting expensive i'll save up for them.

Re: Custom Computer Building Help
If you are looking to constantly upgrade your rig with new technology every so often, then build. If you're just looking for a decent gaming rig that'll last several years, buy a rig and throw in a nice video card. The GPU makes the biggest impact on a gaming rig.
Find a PC with a decent processor, I5 at least load it with memory and throw in a nvidia geforce card. It'll handle most games at high resolutions with high detail. At times you may need to upgrade the PSU if your video card is grand.
Building a PC from the ground up can get pricey, and with a limited budget where saving is involved will get lengthy. Seems cheaper since you're buying it piece by piece, but it'll all add up. Keep in mind the OS alone will also be a pretty penny. A lot of people leave out the price of Windows when they build.
Enjoy.

Which statement is wrong, or are you implying that my entire post is?

Re: Custom Computer Building Help
AHhhh just reread your post and noticed the i5 part. Didn't read it to well. Still building it from scratch is cheaper and better though. An i5 build could prob be kept under 500 and still run some games decent. I once went out and bought a PC from best buy. Some decent office PC that was on clearance for like 450. Picked up a gpu card and psu to throw in it. The (amd phenom 8400) cpu in the pc just bottle necked my card. Would run most games but with crazy low fps, and skippy. After that I just said fuck it, and built my self a PC from the ground up. No more bottle necking lol. Even an i5 would bottle neck most cards, but might perform better than the amd I had.
